Many of us set resolutions as we step into the new year. We aim to get fitter. We strive to be healthier. Additionally, we want to give back to our communities. This January, I’m taking on Kidney Research UK’s Move Into January – 31 in 31 challenge. It is a fantastic initiative. It gets us moving. Moreover, it supports life-saving research for the millions, including myself, affected by kidney disease across the UK.
Kidney disease is a silent and often devastating condition, impacting families and loved ones every day. The work Kidney Research UK does is vital. They fund pioneering research and provide essential information and support. They also strive for better treatments and, ultimately, cures. But they can’t do this alone—the charity relies on the generosity of people like you.
Living with kidney failure definitely has its disadvantages. One of those being difficulties keeping up with an exercise regime. I want to change that. I aim to improve my stamina and the amount of exercise that I do every week. Now, it is not a lot!
When I heard about the challenge set by Kidney Research UK, I knew that was just what I needed. Not only am I going to get moving more, I’ll be raising money for a cause close to my heart.
Taking on this challenge won’t be easy, but I’m determined to give it my best shot. I know there will be days when my energy is low. Sometimes, I feel disheartened. Yet, I believe that having a goal to work towards will keep me motivated. With the support of friends, family, and those also taking part, I’m hopeful. I aim to achieve my targets. I also want to inspire others in similar situations to stay active and positive. My son will be supporting me along the way, and he has already jogged into 2026.
This is where I need your help. By sponsoring my challenge, you’ll be investing directly in groundbreaking research. You will also be helping to give hope to those living with kidney disease. Whether it’s a few pounds or a more substantial donation, every contribution makes a real difference. Plus, supporting this cause is a brilliant way to kick off the new year with kindness and purpose.
